TARGET AUDIENCE

CORE BUSINESS PROBLEM
Digital distribution platforms and E-commerce have decreased EB Games’ market-share of new game sales, and reduced the demand of physical media traditionally leveraged by EB games through used game purchases and trade-ins.
Based on our research new game software and pre-owned games are the two main revenue source of EB games. These two sources of revenue have been affected by digital distributors (such as Steam, Playstation Network, Xbox Live, etc) and e-commerce sites (such as Amazon) over the past few years (Gamestop Corp. Annual Reports (2007 and 2015)Electronics Boutique Annual Reports). The main reason being the accessibility of downloads and affordable price for multiple games.
From EB Games' existing model, we saw an opportunity to leverage their existing large inventory and infrastructure to offer more affordable access to game products and thus encourage ongoing purchase.

Transformational Metaphor
Taking a paradigm from the gaming world, we chose to use a diamond shape for our visual design and navigation theme. The use of buttons within this orientation is found on most game controllers and is also used for computer games, in the form of the arrow keys.
